AFS helps individuals develop understanding, knowledge, and skills needed to contribute to a more just and peaceful world. Through intercultural exchange programs, we build bridges between people from diverse backgrounds.
The largest and oldest non-profit student exchange organization in Switzerland. Each year, 250 international guests come to Switzerland and 300 Swiss youth travel abroad to live with host families.
Exchange programs for students (15–18), apprentices, and adults (18+) across 50+ destinations. All include preparation, continuous support, and follow-up upon return.

Rooted in the American Field Service of World War I — from ambulance drivers on battlefields to a global network of intercultural understanding.
